UMBC Hillel supports a pluralistic Jewish community on campus. UMBC Hillel meets students where they are – socially, culturally and Jewishly – and helps them continue their Jewish journey.
There are approximately 1,000 Jewish undergraduate students at UMBC. Jewish students are an integral part of both Hillel and the campus community. The Jewish students, like the entire student body at UMBC, are bright, driven and diverse. UMBC Hillel seeks to empower students to take personal responsibility for their Jewish identity by providing a variety of leadership and involvement opportunities. Whether they wish to undertake a community service project, become a part of our Jewish Leadership Council, participate in a social event, connect through informal Jewish learning or attend a holiday celebration, UMBC Hillel strives to support student life in every way possible.
The vision of UMBC Hillel is to inspire every Jewish student to make an enduring commitment to Jewish life. University life is a time to dream of what could be and it is the hope of UMBC Hillel that we can be a vehicle for students to think about how they can make the world a better place– as we strengthen a community and identity that is uniquely Jewish and universally human.
